The Southern growing regions of Colombia, which is where Huila is, produce some of the country’s best coffees. Small holders produce the coffee across diverse micro climates across the Cordilleras mountain ranges of the Andes. Both regions have two harvests, the main one and Mitica.
The Daterra estate is in the region of Cerrado Mineiro, and is divided into mini-farms (parcels) where variety, soil specifics and sun are counted to decide carefully depending on the desired cup profile.
The Mogiana region stretches across the top part of São Paulo and into the dispute region of Minas Gerais. The topography and climate varies across the sub regions of Alta Mogiana and Média Mogiana. The Alta Mogiana region is distinguished by plateaus and small hills city Franca. The farms can range in size from 15 hectares to 500 hectares. All are similarly farmed under quite intensive conditions, with little irrigation and shade protection.
The Zabu Coffee House Espresso is Rainforest Alliance Certified and is a good mix of two types of bean from Brazil and a Colombian.
The Brazilian beans act as a base to our Espresso whilst the Colombian adds the kick. Whilst very similar in complexity and flavour to our House Blend (for filter/ cafetieres), these beans are roasted darker so that you capture the full flavours of the beans- this means they carry particularly well through milk (lattes, cappuccinos etc).
